Client Christmas Gifts | For Creative Small Business Owners

Hey there! Today I’m excited to share about client Christmas gifts! Doing this wasn’t my original idea but we’ve done it every year of business and I love it so much! From the feedback we receive from our couples, I know that they love it too! In hopes to help you navigate this if you’re interested in starting this tradition, I’m sharing why we do this, what we send, and when we send it!

why:

Drew and I got married in June of 2016 and our first Christmas together one of my best friends sent us a custom ornament in the mail. It was a small gesture but it made me feel SO loved and known- someone remembered that it was our first one together! I want our couples to feel that same excitement- that someone else is also excited for one of their first holiday together! Plus I just love giving gifts and what better excuse than the holiday season?!

what:

The specific gift changes year to year but I do try to stick with ornaments of some sort because it meant so much to me my first married Christmas! Chocolate, a Christmas card and cute ribbon are usually included as well 🙂 I break this into two categories of couples: those getting married after Christmas of the current year and those who have been past #mbpbrides.

Couples who are getting married the upcoming year: Last year I had custom ornaments made for our couples but this year I switched it up and got picture frame ornaments from Hearth and Hand at Target. Magnolia is my FAVORITE place to shop so it seemed very fitting!  They can put an engagement or wedding picture in the frame or keep it with the cute art work. All gifts include chocolate because…well, no explanation needed on that one!

Couples we’ve served in the past: We send them all a Christmas card with a personalized hand written note. I love that we can keep in touch with them, even years after their wedding day!

when:

I scope out deals on Black Friday and try to buy everything then if possible. I’ll typically assemble everything the last week of November or first week of December and I try have everything in the mail by the end of the first week of December. I do this because I want to communicate the intentionality of the gift and the closer to Christmas, the easier it is to get caught in the hustle and bustle of all the things.

This magazine usually gets mailed soon after a couple is officially booked with us, but we updated it this year so it got sent out with Christmas gifts. I purchased this template from Katelyn James then changed all the images with my own and added/re-worded tons of content. I HIGHLY recommend this to all photographers! It could be modified to other creative business as well. Printed through MagCloud

Well, that’s a wrap 😉 Any questions? Leave them in the comments below and I’ll be sure to respond!

XO,

Mon
