Hey there! I'm so glad you're here! I'm Monica Brown, a wedding photographer from Indianapolis who loves to celebrate couples & photographers. I hope you enjoy browsing through recent work, advice for brides & photographers, and taking a peek into our personal life!
I had the amazing opportunity to attend Creative @ Heart conference in Bermuda Run, North Carolina June 24-27, 2019! I’m excited to share a little recap of my time at the conference because it was INCREDIBLE!! Most images are from my phone but I managed to sneak in a few on my nice camera. I seriously cannot recommend C@H enough for any creative small business owners out there! Kat Schmoyer and her team thought through every detail, provided SO much helpful/challenging content through the hand picked speakers, and really cultivated an atmosphere of community and encouragement. I hope to go back and look forward to taking what I learned and applying it to both my personal life and business to better serve my clients!
Below I’m share a few nuggets of wisdom I learned/was reminded of throughout the conference. BIG thanks for sharing your knowledge and encouragement Kat Schmoyer, Nancy Ray, Terri Baskin, Laura Foote, Megan Martin, Jessica Rasdall, Lara Casey, Shana Skidmore, Tyler Herrinton, Becky Baker, Paige Griffith, Abby Grace and Katelyn James!! I highly recommend you follow all of them on social media if you aren’t already!
I left feeling so inspired, motivated and refreshed! It was the perfect combination of encouragement, big picture reminders, and specific tips to implement into my life & business. Seriously cannot wait to go back again!!
-“Comparison is the thief of EVERYTHING!” -Nancy Ray
-Setting goals matters: Just start NOW & break it down into elementary steps.
-Throwing out a mindset of scarcity and intentionally disciplining myself to have a mindset shift of abundance is a game changer.
-We can’t do this alone & it’s way more fun to have other industry friends anyway!
-Outsourcing can/will grow your business in ways you can’t imagine! This could be outsourcing editing photos or having your house cleaned- being creative with this is key.
-Knowing what our strengths are & what motivates us helps SO MUCH!! TIPS: I highly recommend checking out strength finders with Laura Foote & discover what motivates you with Shana Skidmore! To be honest, I was surprised by both of my answers/ results for my strength finders and main motivator but it is SUPER helpful to know so you can press in/utilize your strengths even more.
-We need to share the STORY God has written/is currently writing for our lives! “You’re in your season for a purposeful reason.” -Katelyn James
-Systems & processes are good. So are P&L reports & balance sheets- they don’t have to be intimidating!
-Let your “Yes be Yes and your No be No”- Abby Grace. We need to protect our priorities (family, friends, etc.) so that we can be better business owners. If we put our business over the top priorities in out lives, we lose every time. On a practical level- getting Abby Grace’s email templates are a game changer in helping communicate boundaries!
Can’t wait to go back again!! Hope to see you there with me!

Mon
