Nora’s Nursery

We started working on Nora Sue’s nursery mid June, just 4 months before her due date, and wow it was such a fun process!! Decorating any room for me always takes time and pieces from different places until it all feels like it comes together- her room was no different. I found it so helpful looking at blogs, Pinterest, and asking friends for recommendations when putting this together so I wanted to share in the event it could do the same for someone else!

I started with a color palette of grey, white, gold, natural wood, blush pinks and greens verse a specific theme and it kind of evolved from there. I knew I wanted to do something with watercolor flowers but was on the fence for a WHILE until I discovered peel & stick wallpaper. It’s a game changer ya’ll! Once we landed on one from Etsy, got it installed (thanks Drew & pappy!), it felt a lot easier to start tying everything together.

We are SO so grateful for all our family & friends who generously blessed us with SO much of “the goods” in preparation for our girl’s arrival!! Links to everything below

Hope you enjoy a little tour of one of my new favorite places!!

This Pottery Barn Kids self was a splurge but this was a piece I was most excited about!! I also love that if we have any boys in the future, it’d go great in their rooms or anywhere in the house really.
A lot in this little corner of her room was a hodgepodge from multiple stores! Fake plants from IKEA, the flower vase above is from an old candle, gold standing frames from Hobby Lobby, wicker baskets for toys from Big Lots, soft building blocks from Amazon, our maternity session images from the lovely Christa Hitchock Photography. My sweet friend Abbey hand made her monogram & I’m obsessed!
What I love most about this IKEA crib is the price haha. It has great reviews and we knew a few friends who also had it and loved it! It does transition into the next phase of bed for kiddos too which is a plus. I love how the Amazon tassel bed skirt adds a feminine pop.
You’ll notice a theme…our love for IKEA haha. At this point Drew is a pro at assembling furniture from there! I love the size of this dresser and had fun sprucing it up a bit with gold knobs from CB2. Another piece that was a splurge is the storage tower from World Market! I was determined to get this after seeing it on Pinterest but it was sold out at all locations in Indiana + online. However, there just so happen to be one left in stock in Columbus, OH which is were some of our best friends live so they were able to pick it up for us haha (shout out to Alex for being the MVP!!).
At our baby showers friends & family wrote hilarious and encouraging notes on diapers for a little pick me up during those late night diaper changes to come haha
This little wall feels extra special because our friend Alex painted the letter “N” for her name with black eyed susans. My mom’s first name was Susan (but often went by Sue) and those were her favorite flowers. Even though she’s not physically with us anymore, I love getting to honor her as we welcome our daughter into the world. Having her favorite flowers in the nursery and as our daughter’s middle name are just two small ways. Conveniently, my sweet mother-in-law’s middle name is Sue so we get to honor both of our moms with Nora’s name!

My friend Anne gifted us this cute quote by Crewandco and we invested in the watercolor commission by Rachael Bush Art for our birth announcement. I’m still marveling at the Lord when I look back at that very first ultrasound image!
