Hey there! I'm so glad you're here! I'm Monica Brown, a wedding photographer from Indianapolis who loves to celebrate couples & photographers. I hope you enjoy browsing through recent work, advice for brides & photographers, and taking a peek into our personal life!
Going to Maine has been a family tradition for my mother-in-law since she was a little girl. With all the views, the hikes, the pottery, and delicious food that Maine has to offer, the tradition has stuck! My very first time to Maine (& first Brown family vacation) was a week after our honeymoon in June 2016. It was an incredible vacation!!
The Browns typically go every other year so this summer was the year for Maine. Drew and I moved into our house in Indianapolis and two weeks later headed to Maine for 12 days. The timing initially felt a bit crazy but the Lord knew exactly what we needed! It was SO good for us to get away from everything and REST + play for a few days after all the crazy and stress of moving. When we got back from traveling (we took a quick pit stop in Columbus to photograph Addie & Murray’s wedding before heading home) I felt so refreshed and that helped the unpacking and settling in process go much faster and smoother. So, without further ado, here’s a recap of family vacation!
See what I did there? 😉
That is Bubble Rock ladies and gents! It is quite big but was smaller than I was expecting haha. The hike up is great though! I’d recommend + do it again!!
We only had one (minor) causality on the trip…and it just so happened to be ME! It was literally so dumb of me but I sliced my finger while cutting an apple. It was a sharp knife so it was a clean cut, but pretty deep. Drew immediately went into action and wrapped it in tissues and paracord. We still had to hike down Bubble Rock Mountain so I held my finger up (like the image above) and my father-in-law (who has quite the sensor of humor 🙂 ) kept joking about me being “#1” and it got me every time haha.
When I told my parents what happened & that I was fine, the first thing my dad asked was if it was my shooting finger…haha they know me! Thankfully it was on my left hand. I’m writing this post in August, roughly 2 months after the “incident” and my finger still can’t bend all the way like it used to. As a result, I’ve consistently been doing finger exercises haha. Prayerfully this will never happen again!
Grandpa holding onto his hat…it got quite windy as we walked closer to the water!
Until next time, friends!
XO
