Hey there! I'm so glad you're here! I'm Monica Brown, a wedding photographer from Indianapolis who loves to celebrate couples & photographers. I hope you enjoy browsing through recent work, advice for brides & photographers, and taking a peek into our personal life!
Hey there! I’m excited to dive into my top 3 tips for rocking out your ring shots- pun intended 😉 These are always some of my favorite details of engagement sessions and wedding days so I think it’s important to feel confident in photographing them. It takes lots of practice and time but so worth working hard to make these look FABULOUS.
When photographing rings, my top three recommendations are to:
This really is a game changer! I share all about the lenses and cameras we use and for details, specifically ring shots, you absolutely will not regret investing in a macro lens!! It’s what it was built for. I currently have a 100 mm Canon macro lens and love it. I bring it with my to every engagement session and wedding.
I’m all for auto focus (I’m in this mode for everything but ring spots during sessions & weddings) but when it comes to these small details, auto focus really struggles. Manual takes a little longer but you guys it is SO SO worth it!
I always love to incorporate fresh flowers, rocks, the hood of our car (lol), and leafs during engagement sessions. On wedding days, there’s a lot more options! For example you could incorporate: invitation suite, ring boxes, ribbon, flowers, veil, bridesmaids dresses, styling boards, and another other styling elements you bring with you. Adding in details that compliment the rings can really enhance your images!
